Cards for Kids and Wolves for Cubs

Through Cards for Kids and Wolves for Cubs, Thomas Worthington and Worthington Kilbourne High School students serve as mentors to elementary school students.

This program provides a way to use the talents and skills of teens as role models and friends for younger children who need additional emotional support and attention at school.

Programs similar to this one have shown that elementary students increase their self-confidence and gain a more positive attitude toward school after spending time with a high school mentor.

This is also an enjoyable way for high school students to provide a valuable service to their community. Mentor volunteers spend approximately one hour each week during the school day throughout the school year with an elementary school girl or boy. Mentors must be in good standing with all high school rules and procedures and attend all training sessions.

Cards for Kids and Wolves for Cubs are sponsored by Partners for Citizenship and Character, and the Activity Clubs at both Thomas Worthington High School and Worthington Kilbourne High School.
